Data Center Support Technician

In this role, you will handle on-site inspections and maintenance, proactively identifying potential risks and suggesting enhancements. You will utilize monitoring tools to analyze and optimize performance metrics for networks and servers. Efficient management of maintenance tasks and incident resolutions through a ticketing system will be part of your daily routine. You will diagnose and resolve hardware failures, performing component replacements and adjustments as needed. Reading and analyzing detailed server logs (such as SEL and system logs) to identify and resolve issues will be a key function. Additionally, you will operate BMC/IPMI tools for remote hardware monitoring and troubleshooting, participate in firmware updates, and manage patching and hardware upgrade plans to ensure system stability. Planning and executing cabling tasks—both fiber and copper—will be part of your duties, as well as managing the rack-mounting process for servers and network devices. You will oversee the inventory of spare parts, including cables and hardware components, and will need to have a solid understanding of OSI Layers 1-4 to troubleshoot network faults independently. Familiarity with basic CLI configurations for Arista, Cisco, and Juniper devices will be beneficial. You may assist or independently perform firmware upgrades and module replacements on network devices and provide network support during data center project phases, communicating requirements and solutions to clients. Participation in data center buildouts or go-live projects, coordinating server rack mounting, initial configurations, and network device deployment will be expected. Effective communication with both internal teams and customers regarding project updates and issue reporting will be a priority. Lastly, you will draft and refine technical documentation as necessary.
