Requirements
Must:
- Associate degree or higher in a technical field or equivalent practical experience in data center operations or IT support.
- Over 5 years of experience in breakfix support, hardware diagnostics, and repairs in enterprise settings.
- Strong competence with CLI-based tools and environments (e.g., Cisco CLI, Linux/Unix shell, iDRAC, iLO).
- Proven experience in diagnosing and fixing server, storage, and network hardware.
- Familiarity with network protocols and utilities (e.g., ping, traceroute, netstat, SNMP, syslog).
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to function under pressure in high-availability situations.
- Strong communication and leadership capabilities with a customer-centric approach.
- Valid drivers license and willingness to travel between data center locations as required.
Responsibilities
- Supervise breakfix operations for server, storage, and network hardware, ensuring swift and efficient resolution of hardware malfunctions.
- Carry out advanced diagnostics using CLI tools (e.g., Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Linux shell) to troubleshoot system and network problems.
- Manage physical hardware repairs, including component-level replacements (e.g., drives, memory, NICs, PSUs, fans, motherboards).
- Resolve Layer 1-3 network issues, including port failures, link fluctuations, and misconfigurations.
- Collaborate with OEM vendors for RMA processes, part replacements, and warranty claims.
- Update and maintain documentation for incident resolutions, root cause analyses, and repair procedures.
- Oversee ticket management and ensure compliance with SLAs through effective prioritization and escalation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior technicians, promoting adherence to best practices and safety protocols.
- Work with cross-functional teams to assist with infrastructure upgrades, migrations, and maintenance windows.
- Ensure compliance with MOPs and CMOPs, contributing to their ongoing development and refinement.
