Must:
- A Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline (systems, electronic, avionics, computer, etc.) is required (or equivalent experience of 5 years).
- A minimum of 10-15 years of experience is needed; a Master's degree may substitute for 3 years, and a PhD may replace 7 years of experience.
- A robust background in requirements analysis, system design, and lifecycle engineering, capable of supporting both new and legacy systems.
- Experience in conducting system performance assessments, testing and evaluation activities, and performing technical risk analyses.
- Proficiency in communications systems and enterprise security engineering practices.
- Familiarity with configuration management (CM) practices, encompassing baseline tracking, documentation maintenance, and support for audits.
- Practical experience with network engineering and planning, including assessing system changes for security and compliance repercussions.
- Knowledge of NIST cybersecurity standards frameworks and ability to apply these in system integration and compliance processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and collaboration tools such as MS Teams, SharePoint, and Jira/Confluence.
- Strong technical writing and communication abilities, capable of preparing reports, test documentation, and presentations for mid-level management and technical teams.
- Eligibility to secure and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is a requirement.
Responsibilities
We are looking for an Engineer (Level 3) to deliver mid-level security engineering support within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Air Traffic Organization (ATO) NAS Enterprise Services Group (AJW-17). You will undertake intricate engineering tasks aimed at developing, integrating, and maintaining systems and networks that safeguard FAA communications and uphold the operational integrity of the National Airspace System (NAS). Your responsibilities will include conducting requirements analyses, assisting with system design, and engaging in integration activities throughout the system development lifecycle. You'll contribute to performance assessments, prepare and review engineering documentation, and ensure compliance with FAA standards and cybersecurity policies. Furthermore, you'll assist in implementing configuration management processes, support system testing and evaluations, and provide technical input during technical interchange meetings. Additional tasks involve collaborating with senior engineers to resolve technical issues, aiding in the development of transition and implementation strategies for new or upgraded systems, and working with cross-functional teams to integrate emerging technologies into NAS operations.
