Requirements
Must:
- Extensive hands-on experience with healthcare data, including claims, EHR/clinical data, HL7/FHIR, RCM workflows, risk adjustment logic, or interoperability.
- Proven ability to work with large-scale healthcare data, including normalizing, mapping, transforming, and validating PHI-heavy datasets.
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA/PHI regulations and healthcare data governance practices.
- 8–12+ years of progressive engineering experience, with substantial hands-on development and architectural input.
- Proficiency in backend frameworks, data-processing technologies, and cloud environments.
- Track record of successfully delivering software in a SaaS context.
- Demonstrated skill in triaging issues, quickly resolving technical challenges, and advancing engineering tasks.
- Experience in guiding engineering teams through intricate builds while also being actively involved in the work.
- Ability to translate vague product challenges into clear, actionable technical plans.
- Comfortable with making real-time technical decisions based on practicality.
Responsibilities
- Lead the daily engineering delivery involving application and data components.
- Engage with technical challenges, troubleshoot complex data issues, and provide hands-on direction to the engineering team.
- Review code, verify design choices, and ensure that solutions meet performance, reliability, and security standards.
- Design and sustain scalable systems and workflows that accommodate high-volume healthcare data.
- Establish and promote clear engineering protocols such as CI/CD, testing, monitoring, and documentation for predictable output.
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Product to convert customer issues into definitive engineering plans and technical specifications.
- Work alongside leadership to identify bottlenecks, assess alternatives, and suggest practical solutions.
- Contribute a technical perspective during planning discussions, emphasizing feasibility and strategic priorities.
- Communicate openly about engineering progress, risks, and obstacles.
- Supervise and mentor a compact, high-performing engineering team while engaging in delivery activities.
- Set expectations for daily execution, code quality, and problem-solving.
- Assist in the hiring and onboarding process as the team expands, ensuring new members can contribute swiftly.
- Foster a culture of ownership, responsiveness, and technical excellence throughout the team.
