Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 3 years in a supervisory or lead mechanic role within a hotel or similar environment; technical certification and 1 year of leadership experience accepted.
- Stationary Engineer’s license, if mandated by local laws.
- Strong technical skills in HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required; advanced technical training is preferred.
- Capability to lift and transport heavy items (up to 100 lbs occasionally, 50 lbs frequently).
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage multiple projects within tight deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a professional and service-oriented demeanor.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to remain composed in high-pressure scenarios.
- Commitment to safety protocols, regulatory compliance, and confidentiality.
- Willingness to work extended hours as necessitated by business needs.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily engineering activities, ensuring all property systems, equipment, and grounds are upheld to the highest standards of safety and performance.
- Help develop and implement plans for preventative maintenance and preservation of assets.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, including ADA requirements.
- Train and motivate engineering staff on customer service, safety protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Create and manage schedules, budgets, and financial forecasts for the department; engage in monthly profit and loss reviews.
- Implement and oversee emergency and life safety systems, ensuring inspections and certifications align with brand standards.
- Lead initiatives focused on energy conservation and sustainability.
- Quickly respond to maintenance requests and alarms, taking immediate actions to resolve any issues.
- Address guest feedback and ensure timely resolution of engineering-related concerns.
- Manage vendor contracts and oversee special projects or renovations as required.
- Actively participate in safety committees and support all property-wide safety programs.
