Requirements
Must:
- 5+ years of experience as a database administrator
- 3+ years of experience working with enterprise data across multiple databases
- Proficient in various types of databases, including relational, non-relational, and object-oriented, both on-premises and in the cloud
- Capability to translate technical insights into strategic advice
- Experience with evaluations of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) platforms and vendor assessment procedures
- Familiarity with enterprise data catalog platforms and self-service data discovery tools
- Skilled in API development and integration for interconnected systems
- Knowledge of semantic search and Natural Language Processing (NLP) technologies for data discovery
- Preferred: 7+ years of experience as a database administrator
- Preferred: 5+ years of experience with enterprise data/multiple databases
- Preferred: Ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders both verbally and in writing
- Preferred: Experience in formulating data policies and procedures at the enterprise level
- Preferred: Understanding of federated catalog architectures and metadata exchange standards
- Preferred: Familiarity with COTS data catalog solutions and platform selection strategies
- Preferred: Knowledge of user experience design and usability assessment for enterprise applications
- Preferred: Experience with cloud-based catalog platforms and API integration strategies
Responsibilities
- Spearhead Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) initiatives for selecting enterprise data catalog platforms, assessing a minimum of four COTS solutions based on functionality, scalability, and cost-effectiveness
- Conduct detailed platform evaluations, including vendor demos, capability mapping, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, and technical architecture assessment
- Design and deploy interim centralized repositories utilizing approved Federal platforms, incorporating automated governance workflows and validation protocols
- Supervise the development of self-service portals, featuring semantic search capabilities, NLP-enabled exploration, and role-based access controls (RBAC)
- Facilitate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) coordination with Federal stakeholders, encompassing structured testing scenarios and usability evaluations
- Oversee federated catalog integration, involving metadata exchanges with external catalogs, schema mapping, and synchronization operations
- Create and sustain Application Programming Interface (API) integrations to ensure catalog interoperability and enhance data discovery features
- Generate role-specific user documentation, including training materials, best practices guides, and operational procedures for catalog users
- Analyze catalog utilization metrics, performance indicators, and adoption trends to enhance the user experience
- Assist in transition planning and maintenance tasks for long-term catalog operations
