Requirements
Must:
- Associates Degree or equivalent relevant experience; Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a similar field preferred.
- 1-2 years of experience in managing IT personnel.
- Over 4 years of experience in network operations or technical support.
- Active Secret level clearance.
- Able to obtain CJIS background check.
- Required Certifications: One or more of CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Azure AZ-900.
- Understanding of enterprise networking principles, including routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), MPLS, and VPN technologies.
- Proficient in Microsoft Azure networking services such as ExpressRoute, VPN Gateway, and Virtual WAN.
- Experience with network monitoring tools and SPAN/packet capture analysis.
- Familiarity with ticketing systems and incident management workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Capacity to work independently within a 24x7 operational context.
- Strong focus on detail and adherence to documentation protocols.
- Customer service-minded with the capability to juggle multiple priorities.
- Knowledge of network automation concepts and scripting (PowerShell, Python) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and organize a team of Federal Network Support Engineers to deliver technical infrastructure and software service support for the Azure Core Networking team in Government Cloud settings.
- Bridge Tier 1 operational support with Tier 2 technical expertise, ensuring 24x7 support for vital networking infrastructure in secure federal locations, including PhysNet, FPN, ExpressRoute, VPN, and advanced networking services.
- Spearhead team productivity initiatives to optimize output while maintaining high customer satisfaction.
- Collect, analyze, and disseminate performance metrics related to team members.
- Lead the triage and resolution of moderately complex Livesite incidents, customer-reported issues, and deployment challenges.
- Conduct optical SPAN monitoring and implement mitigations for network performance enhancement.
- Address WAN-related incidents and oversee resolution processes.
- Manage the comprehensive deployment of Microsoft ExpressRoute devices for designated sites, including onboarding to GWM.
- Validate and troubleshoot configurations prior to production deployment.
- Support PulseVPN and Webportal implementations within the Fairfax environments.
- Coordinate Hardware Proxy and Scripting Framework support for AZN Systems.
- Perform root cause analysis for recurring incidents and recommend preventative strategies.
- Issue Letters of Authorization (LOAs) and execute operational readiness tests with Microsoft partners.
- Assist in Decom activities, including network decommissioning for federal cloud environments.
- Provide expert guidance to Tier 1 engineers during intricate incidents.
- Develop advanced troubleshooting guides and contribute to the technical documentation knowledge base.
- Act as the primary escalation contact for Tier 1 support teams.
- Collaborate with Microsoft partners (e.g., ATT, BT, Verizon, Equinix) on capacity planning and onboarding procedures.
- Oversee the entire contract sign-off process for new Microsoft partners.
- Escalate highly complex issues to Tier 2 with detailed documentation.
- Participate in post-incident assessments and engage in continuous improvement projects.
