Requirements
Must:
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelors Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred or equivalent relevant experience.
- Over 2 years of experience in network operations or technical support.
- U.S. Citizenship required due to federal contract regulations.
- Active Secret level clearance and ability to obtain CJIS background check.
- One or more of the following certifications: CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Azure AZ-900.
- Basic understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, routing, switching).
- Familiarity with Microsoft Azure networking services is preferred.
- Experience with ticketing systems and incident management workflows.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to operate independently in a 24/7 operational context.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to documentation best practices.
- Customer service-oriented with the capability to handle multiple tasks.
Responsibilities
- Provide operational support by monitoring capacity alerts and maintaining ExpressRoute Direct port capacity for Enterprise Route Direct customers.
- Perform port provisioning and create Network Design Templates (NDT) for buildout activities.
- Generate seed files and carry out post-build service configuration deployments.
- Validate configuration settings before services go live.
- Assist with decom efforts to phase out outdated network infrastructure.
- Triage and escalate Livesite incidents, customer-reported issues, and deployment scenarios.
- Update our knowledge base with troubleshooting guides and insights gained from incident resolutions.
- Engage in PNAAS automation projects.
- Document standard operating procedures for Tier 1 tasks and maintain accurate logs of configuration and deployment actions.
- Collaborate with Microsofts partners (ATT, BT, Verizon, Equinix, etc.) for onboarding partner capacity based on business requirements.
- Escalate complex matters to Tier 1.5/2 support as per established guidelines.
Description
We are seeking a Federal Network Support Engineer Tier 1 to join our Azure Core Networking team, focusing on foundational technical infrastructure and software services within Government Cloud environments. This role is based in Reston/Herndon, VA and offers various shifts including Day, Swing, and Night options. The engineer will support the critical networking infrastructure 24/7 across secure federal facilities, working collaboratively and contributing to ongoing operational excellence. We value strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving as key attributes for our team members.
