Requirements
Must:
- Proficient in RPG, specifically RPG3 and ILE
- Extensive expertise in Control Language programming
- Strong technical skills in iSeries
- Familiar with IBM tools: Query and SDA
- Solid understanding of FTP, DDM, and Stream Files
- Skilled in SQL, encompassing both Interactive and RPG-ILE
- Experience with non-IBM tools like DBU and Hawkeye
- Experience with Mark Magic is advantageous but not mandatory
- Knowledgeable in the SDLC process with hands-on project management experience
- Ability to gather user requirements and create design documents
- Capable of developing technical design specifications
- Strong project planning skills
- Competent in developing quality assurance and formal test plans
- Ability to author user documentation and conduct training sessions
- Expertise in DB2/400 and troubleshooting database performance issues
- Experience with system performance tuning, PTF, and Release Upgrades is desirable
- Familiarity with iSeries hardware such as printers and tape drives
- Self-motivated and well-organized
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to collaborate with cross-departmental teams
- Experience with third-party consultants and software vendors is crucial
- Quick problem-solving skills with the ability to develop action plans
- Retail experience is preferred
- Understanding of Lawson financial software is a plus
- Experience with Manhattan WMS software is a significant advantage
- Familiar with Island Pacific merchandising systems is preferable but not required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools: Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook
- Knowledge of Visual Source Safe is a plus
- Open to on-call responsibilities
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain applications on IBM i Power Systems (AS400)
- Work onsite at our corporate office in Troy, MI
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements
- Author user design documents based on gathered requirements
- Create technical design specifications for development projects
- Implement project planning and management best practices
- Establish quality assurance and formal test plans for software
- Write user documentation to guide end users
- Conduct training sessions for end users on new systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve database performance issues
- Perform system performance tuning, PTF updates, and Release Upgrades
- Maintain familiarity with iSeries hardware, ensuring functionality and performance
