Requirements
Must:
- Currently enrolled as an Engineering student, ideally in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems, or Process disciplines.
- Familiarity with CAD/3D software; experience with CATIA is a plus, but training will be provided.
- Proficient in creating and manipulating spreadsheets; Excel experience preferred, however, we offer training.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, particularly related to sheet metal, tooling, fixtures, jigs, and assembly; ability to integrate this knowledge into process flow and tool design is desirable.
- Competent in reading, analyzing, and interpreting scientific and technical data, blueprints, and specifications.
- Effective communication skills for presenting information to peers and management.
- Ability to apply advanced mathematical and statistical concepts.
- Skillful in defining problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Capable of interpreting a wide variety of technical instructions, both in mathematical and diagrammatic form.
- Proficient in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Regularly required to use hands for various tasks.
- Must demonstrate effective communication abilities.
- Frequently required to stand, with occasional walking and sitting.
- Vision abilities necessary for this role include close and distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the capacity to adjust focus.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret customer requests for quotes, contracts, purchase orders, and associated drawings and specifications.
- Analyze data to create quotation packages, documents, and processes that fulfill customer requirements.
- Collaborate with Project/Design Engineers, Manufacturing Engineering, and Manufacturing on awarded quotations.
- Work as a cohesive member of an Integrated Product Team (IPT) that includes Engineering, Quality, Contracts, Finance, and Supply Chain personnel.
- Comprehend Engineering Drawings and related Parts Lists.
- Plan manufacturing operations to enable the production of sheet metal parts.
- Create and maintain precise Bill of Material (BOM) requirements for sheet metal items.
- Update planning as needed for all purchase order or customer engineering changes and method improvement adjustments.
- Aid project engineers in coordinating with customer and supplier engineers to ensure all necessary information is accessible for producing quality parts.
- Draft detailed Statement of Work (SOW) that clearly defines supplier activities.
- Assist the IPT Quality representative in developing quality assurance/inspection plans for each part and assembly.
- Integrate appropriate tolerances and specifications into all planning documents as indicated by the Purchase Order and Engineering Drawings.
- Contribute to writing detailed work instructions to ensure tasks are completed safely and satisfactorily.
- Coordinate with fellow engineers to implement corrections or enhancements to planning, tooling, programs, or processes.
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures using drawings and specifications, along with operator interviews.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives with Manufacturing Engineering and Work Center Managers to support operational efficiency.
- Collect and analyze data to foster continual improvements in production processes.
- Suggest process alterations to enhance quality and/or throughput.
- Complete other duties as assigned or needed for the role.
