Requirements
Must:
- Strong SQL proficiency with practical MySQL schema knowledge
- Experience overseeing schema modifications in various environments
- Understanding of schema migration and versioning principles
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline practices
- Strong systems-oriented and process-driven mindset
- Ability to articulate risks and standards across different teams
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Expertise with AWS Redshift, Aurora, or similar relational database management systems
- Experience with AWS data services such as Glue, Athena, DynamoDB, OpenSearch, and S3
- Knowledge of data modeling, ETL processes, and schema architecture
- Understanding of data governance frameworks and compliance standards (SOC2, GDPR, PCI)
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot intricate data issues
- Experience with Aurora MySQL
- Familiarity with tools like Skeema, DBT, and Percona
- Background in environments regulated by SOC2 or GDPR
- Scripting experience in Python, Bash, or Node.js
Responsibilities
- Manage governance, standards, and workflows for MySQL schema changes
- Establish authoritative schema sources and define the expected configurations
- Implement version control and prevent schema drift
- Design and maintain automated deployment pipelines for MySQL
- Ensure thorough pre-execution validation involving syntax, dependencies, and safety
- Coordinate with DBAs to address schema drift
- Develop strategies for backups, restores, and rollbacks related to schema changes
- Verify that non-production settings align with production schema standards
- Keep centralized documentation and deployment logs up to date
- Maintain metadata, schemas, and data catalogs to enhance transparency and accessibility
- Collaborate effectively with Engineering, Platform, and Security teams
Description
We are looking for a Data Management Specialist to play a pivotal role in enhancing the governance of MySQL schema changes within our Darwin CX environments. This full-time position offers an annual salary ranging from $130,000 to $160,000, along with a benefits package that includes dental care, disability insurance, an employee assistance program, extended health care, life insurance, paid time off, and the opportunity to work from home.
