Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent professional experience
- Expertise in WLM and knowledge of z/OS internals
- Familiarity with mainframe monitoring tools (e.g., Mainview or equivalent)
- Understanding of key subsystems including DB2, MQ, CICS, and WebSphere
- Ability to assess and recommend new tools and techniques for enhancing mainframe observability
- Strong teamwork, leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills
- Proven ethical behavior
- Analytical and inquisitive mindset
- Excellent pattern recognition abilities
- Proactive problem determination skills
- Experience in observability metrics and analysis
Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimize IBM z/OS mainframe environments for core applications
- Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks in z/OS subsystems and applications within the z/OS ecosystem
- Provide Level 2 diagnostics and production support for a z/OS mainframe environment
- Analyze and tune configurations for CPU, Memory, I/O, Network, LPARs, and Parallel Sysplex
- Set up and support performance testing environments, providing comprehensive analysis of results
- Ensure the correct prioritization of critical batch workloads
- Lead modernization and observability initiatives on the mainframe, incorporating new tools for enhanced reporting, alerting, and advanced analytics
- Support subsystem subject matter experts, including DB2, CICS, Network, and Storage
- Offer consulting services to IT personnel on performance-related challenges
- Act as a trusted coach and mentor within the team
- Effectively communicate across the organization
