Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent experience - At least 8 years of experience in Cybersecurity with a focus on network and perimeter security - Over 10 years of hands-on experience in cybersecurity engineering, particularly in Network Security and Zero Trust architectures - Extensive experience with Akamai, including WAF policy design, CDN, and edge security concepts - Proven expertise in managing false positives and rule customization - Strong understanding of cloud and SaaS security controls, especially in Azure AD and Azure environments - Deep knowledge of network protocols and web architectures, such as DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP/S, and firewall technologies - Familiarity with SIEM tools, packet analysis, and security event investigation - Ability to work independently as a senior technical lead while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams - Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills - Strong communication abilities to articulate complex security concepts clearly - Preferred industry certifications like CISSP or other relevant cybersecurity credentials

Responsibilities

- Oversee the architecture, deployment, lifecycle management, and advanced tuning of Akamai WAF solutions to safeguard DTCC web applications in both on-prem and cloud settings - Serve as the enterprise expert on Akamai WAF, offering strategic and hands-on guidance for capabilities like Kona Site Defender and Adaptive Security Engine - Act as the primary technical lead and escalation point for Akamai WAF, responsible for policy design, validation, deployment, and ongoing optimization - Create and maintain custom Akamai WAF rules, rate controls, bot mitigation strategies, and API protection policies to adapt to emerging threats while minimizing false positives - Facilitate secure onboarding of applications into Akamai, including traffic profiling and enforcement phases - Lead WAF observability efforts and metrics, encompassing alert strategies, log analysis, and reporting on risk reduction - Collaborate closely with Security Architecture and the Cyber Threat Fusion Center to identify security gaps and enhance existing controls - Develop and maintain security standards, reference architectures, and technical documentation regarding Akamai WAF and network perimeter security - Analyze security alerts, conduct root cause analysis, and recommend mitigation strategies for Akamai and network controls - Identify and champion automation opportunities to enhance operational efficiency and response capabilities - Mentor and provide technical leadership to security engineers, establishing best practices for Akamai WAF operations
