Requirements
Must:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to customer-related sensitivities.
- High school diploma/GED with 16 years of experience, or Associates degree plus 10 years, or Bachelors degree in IT field with 8 years, or Masters degree in IT field with 6 years of experience.
- Must be eligible for a security clearance and maintain it throughout employment.
- In-depth knowledge of RHEL administration including installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Proficiency in shell scripting (Bash) as well as familiarity with other scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl).
- Experience with system monitoring and performance optimization tools.
- Strong grasp of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, routing).
- Experience with virtualization platforms (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to function independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Onsite presence required; this position does not allow for remote work.
- Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) along with Security+ certification for DoD 8140 compliance.
- Availability for after-hours and weekend support when necessary.
- Must exhibit professionalism, courtesy, high ethical standards, and integrity.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the installation, configuration, and upkeep of RHEL servers and workstations.
- Diagnose and resolve system-related complications, including performance issues, hardware malfunctions, and software conflicts.
- Enforce system security protocols and access controls.
- Conduct routine system backups and disaster recovery procedures.
- Monitor and analyze system performance, proactively addressing potential issues.
- Utilize scripting languages to automate system administration processes.
- Provide technical assistance to end-users.
- Stay updated on the latest RHEL updates, security patches, and best practices.
- Support the implementation of new technologies and infrastructure enhancements.
- Collaborate with IT management, other teams, and stakeholders to ensure seamless system operations.
- Generate regular performance reports to assist in capacity planning.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to support the IPTs objectives.
- Engage in research and development to enhance the organizations environment and processes.
