Requirements

Must:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to the nature of the role. - Must possess and maintain a Top Secret Level Clearance with current SCI eligibility. - Bachelors or Masters Degree in a relevant discipline with over 20 years of experience, including more than 12 years in the Department of Defense (DoD). - Proficient in Information Technology (IT) systems and the comprehensive processes of software design, development, testing, evaluation, and maintenance, inclusive of software Verification and Validation (V&V). - Capable of meeting Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II certification standards as per DoD 8570.01-M. - Experienced throughout the entire software development lifecycle for DoD systems, encompassing architecture, design, implementation, testing, documentation, delivery, and sustainment, with a solid understanding of software engineering best practices such as coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, and configuration management.

Responsibilities

- Assess feasibility through careful analysis, problem identification, and solution evaluation. - Document and illustrate solutions with diagrams, code, and comprehensive documentation. - Enhance operations by examining systems and recommending procedural modifications. - Acquire and license software by collaborating with vendors and conducting product tests. - Analyze and summarize development and service challenges to keep stakeholders informed. - Support mission objectives by completing engineering assignments as necessary. - Conduct Software Quality Assurance (SQA) to ensure software meets stipulated quality criteria. - Collaborate within Agile teams to design, code, test, and review software and scripts. - Contribute to build, deployment, and documentation activities as required. - Support all stages of the acquisition lifecycle with engineering tasks and documentation (e.g., Analysis of Alternatives, Systems Engineering Plan, Critical Design Review). - Execute system architecture analysis, incorporating feasibility studies and cutting-edge evaluations. - Develop and document system architectures, identify gaps, and propose solutions using traditional or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies. - Maintain system architecture and interoperability specifications. - Define operational requirements and interactions to facilitate system development. - Convert user requirements into system-level specifications utilizing DoD acquisition methodologies. - Evaluate training systems and simulators, assessing their designs rigorously. - Implement DoD acquisition and sustainment engineering methodologies throughout the product lifecycle. - Prepare and review specifications, applying modeling and simulation to enhance performance. - Create and integrate milestone documentation and reports in accordance with DoD/AF policies. - Review contractor designs for adherence to specifications and standards. - Participate in all system engineering activities: requirements, design, verification, risk, interfaces, and configuration management. - Share lessons learned and best practices while respecting proprietary limitations. - Conduct market research, trade studies, and systems assessments to inform decision-making. - Assess performance, cost, reliability, and risk to substantiate technical recommendations. - Develop and implement testing plans and analyze results to support acquisition efforts. - Aid logistics, maintenance, configuration, and supply chain operations, including finding alternatives for obsolescence challenges.
