Requirements
Must:
- U.S. Citizenship is mandatory due to the sensitivity of customer-related requirements.
- Associates Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field is required; Bachelors Degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in computer-based modeling and simulation or using 3D CAD modeling applications, with engineering drawings or physical items.
- Experience with Siemens NX CAD is preferred, as it will be the main application used.
- Knowledge of reverse engineering tools and scanners, such as Design X or Polyworks Inspector, is advantageous.
- Strong teamwork skills, with willingness to share modeling techniques and mentor other team members.
- Familiarity with aircraft, stores (weapons, fuel tanks, pods, missiles), and suspension equipment is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of machine shop practices and aircraft construction is a plus.
- Experience with other CAD software, such as CATIA, PRO-E, or Solidworks, is an asset.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for the SEMATS 3 contract at Eglin AFB, FL.
- Conduct CAD development efforts for 3D compatibility and engineering modeling to verify store fit on aircraft.
- Collaborate with the Computerized Physical Fit (CPF) Team to create 3D solid models for the Department of the Air Force.
- Create, modify, and manipulate 3D models from various sources including drawings and scanned data.
- Manage the CAD Data Library (CDL) and the Master Model Library (MML) for the Air Force SEEK EAGLE office.
- Interface with customers to gather CPF modeling requirements and convert solid bodies into specific 3D model formats.
- Support other engineering teams within the SEEK EAGLE Office, providing CPF model derivatives for analysis.
- Generate additional 3D solid and surface data as needed for detailed model representation.
- Assist in measuring and scanning aircraft, weapons, and suspension gear for model verification and reverse engineering efforts, which may require some travel.
- Import, translate, and export CAD file formats such as IGES, STEP, DXF/DWG or VRML when needed.
- Implement process improvement methods, tools, and techniques to enhance CPF system quality and productivity.
