Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, with recent hands-on work in data platform or distributed system development in cloud settings
- Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, with practical experience in designing and maintaining data platforms, products, or solutions
- Experience in developing and supporting cloud-native applications (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS)
- Working knowledge of lakehouse technologies (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi) with practical experience in schema evolution and optimization
- Comprehensive understanding of observability practices (metrics, logging, tracing, alerting) and experience using tools such as Dynatrace, Splunk, or CloudWatch for platform reliability and performance
- Hands-on experience with data storage and processing technologies, including object stores (S3, ADLS, GCS), relational databases, and NoSQL systems
- Awareness of data governance and security measures (e.g., access controls, encryption, compliance), able to design platform components adhering to organizational standards
- Well-versed in distributed systems concepts (scalability, reliability, consistency, partitioning) and their relevance to large-scale data platforms
- Experience with enterprise-class applications that prioritize uptime, reliability, and scalability
- Proficient programming skills in one or more languages commonly used for platform engineering (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, Go)
- Proven ability to mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering team growth and technical advancement
- Familiar with Agile methodologies and other software development lifecycle practices
Preferred:
- Advanced expertise in lakehouse technologies (Delta, Iceberg, Hudi), including performance optimization and reliability at scale
- Hands-on experience with workflow orchestration tools (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, Databricks Workflows)
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines for platform services
- In-depth knowledge of observability and SRE practices (SLAs/SLOs/SLIs, distributed tracing, advanced monitoring tools)
- Experience in performance tuning and cost optimization for large-scale data platforms
- Background in financial services or FinTech industries
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and implementation of crucial elements of a modern data platform (e.g., data lake, streaming infrastructure, DaaS, DAL, data catalog) to ensure production reliability and technical integrity
- Propel technical innovation by engaging in system design, implementation, and operational excellence within high-impact segments of the platform
- Exhibit strong engineering practices through practical engagement and code contributions, demonstrating best approaches to problem-solving and quality maintenance
- Collaborate with colleagues across data and engineering teams to shape technology and architecture decisions through well-founded insights
- Advocate for adopting new technologies, illustrating their benefits via prototypes, proofs of concept, and integration into team workflows
- Align project initiatives with broader strategic objectives, partnering with senior engineers and engineering leadership to support the companys technical and business vision
- Conduct impact assessments to predict the repercussions of changes across services and systems
- Assess third-party technologies and solutions through technical evaluations, providing recommendations that balance operational fit with business needs
- Test and validate ideas by analyzing results and proposing actionable solutions to enhance platform functionality
- Document standards and best practices to make platform engineering strategies clear and maintainable for other teams
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues, applying technical expertise to regain stability across services and systems
- Engage in ongoing learning and improvements, refining processes, design methods, and team workflows for enhanced engineering outcomes
- Contribute to talent development by participating in recruitment and mentoring of team members
