Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience
- Minimum of 8 years in software engineering or comparable experience, with recent exposure to cloud data platforms
- Proven experience in a leadership role directing a team of data engineering professionals
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages used in data engineering (e.g., Python, Java, Scala)
- Practical knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) including Agile/SCRUM and Waterfall methodologies
- Experience designing and implementing scalable batch and streaming data pipelines
- Deep understanding of data modeling, schema design, and lakehouse architectures
- Familiarity with data governance, lineage, and quality frameworks
- Experience working on critical enterprise-class applications
- Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide less experienced team members
- Preferred: Expertise in Apache Spark
- Familiarity with Databricks (e.g., Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, DLT, Auto Loader)
- Hands-on experience with AWS data services (e.g., S3, Glue, Lambda, MSK)
- Background in financial services or the FinTech sector.
Responsibilities
- Design, construct, and scale data pipelines across various sources, including internal systems, third-party services, and cloud-based platforms
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to extract, load, and transform data using cloud-native engineering principles
- Engage with stakeholders to comprehend data requirements and devise effective strategies for data acquisition and integration
- Write unit tests and validate software against established acceptance criteria
- Evolve and modernize application design and architecture towards cutting-edge technologies and practices
- Author and promote coding, documentation, and testing standards within the team
- Conduct impact analyses to proactively assess the ramifications of changes across multiple applications
- Learn the business processes to align technological solutions effectively
- Experiment and validate ideas to meet needs, draw conclusions, and propose solutions
- Lead code reviews and communicate application updates
- Document code and projects for clarity and maintainability
- Troubleshoot issues in production environments and propose effective resolutions
- Read, write, and review design documentation
- Contribute to team sprint commitments and actively engage in Agile practices, recommending process improvements
- Facilitate continuous learning activities to enhance design and code quality while increasing application domain knowledge
- Participate in the talent selection process within the team.
