Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; or equivalent professional experience - Minimum of 5 years of software engineering experience, particularly in developing and managing data platforms or distributed systems in cloud environments - Strong understanding of software engineering best practices with hands-on experience in building and operating data platforms or products - Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) including the deployment and support of containerized services (Docker, Kubernetes, ECS/EKS) - Familiarity with lakehouse concepts (Delta Lake, Iceberg, Hudi) and schema practices including versioning and optimization - Knowledge of observability practices, including tools (e.g., Dynatrace, Splunk, CloudWatch) - Proficiency with data storage technologies relevant to data platforms, such as object stores (S3, ADLS, GCS) and both relational and NoSQL databases - Understanding of data governance and security principles, including access controls, encryption, and compliance considerations - Strong grasp of distributed systems concepts, focusing on scalability, reliability, and consistency - Proficient programming skills in languages commonly used for platform engineering (e.g., Python, Java, Scala, Go) - Proven ability to mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering team development and technical growth - Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle practices - Preferred: Hands-on experience with lakehouse technologies and exposure to workflow orchestration frameworks (e.g., Airflow, Databricks Workflows) - Preferred: Experience with CI/CD pipelines for testing and deployment automation and debugging performance issues

Responsibilities

- Design and create core components of the data platform, such as data lakes and streaming infrastructure, with a focus on scalability and reliability - Balance hands-on delivery with architectural vision to enhance cross-functional initiatives - Collaborate with data and engineering stakeholders to identify needs and implement effective solutions for data handling - Write unit and integration tests to validate platform reliability against acceptance criteria - Uphold team coding and documentation standards to ensure maintainable engineering practices - Conduct impact assessments to identify dependencies and evaluate risks of changes - Develop a comprehensive understanding of platform use cases and business processes for better alignment of technical solutions - Experiment with new tools and methodologies, validating results and suggesting enhancements for the platform - Participate in design and code reviews, giving constructive feedback and conveying changes clearly - Document platform elements and designs to ensure clarity and maintainability for future developers - Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, proposing solutions to stabilize the platform - Contribute to sprint objectives and engage actively in Agile practices, such as retrospectives and process improvements - Pursue continuous learning to stay updated on modern data platform technologies and engineering best practices
