Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a closely related field; or equivalent professional experience
- At least 15 years of experience in software engineering or a comparable depth of experience
- Proven experience in a leadership role overseeing technical direction of data technology and architecture
- Profound knowledge of software engineering best practices, with experience in constructing modern data platforms, products, and solutions
- Expert in modern data technologies from end to end, including but not limited to data integration, data acquisition, transformation, aggregation, governance, business intelligence, data warehouses, data lakes, NoSQL, object storage, and streaming
- Extensive expertise in promoting and instilling software engineering best practices
- Strong comprehension of distributed systems, cloud computing, and microservices architectures
- Significant experience in data modeling, design, and messaging
- Background in working on critical enterprise-class applications
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with business partners, cross-functional team members, and to mentor experienced colleagues
- In-depth experience in creating real-time big data production systems that drive business success
- Familiarity with Agile delivery mechanisms
Preferred:
- Experience in the financial services or FinTech industry
Responsibilities
- Provide technical thought leadership that aligns business strategy with operational success
- Champion critical technology and architectural decisions across the data portfolio for both current and future objectives
- Take a hands-on approach in role modeling how engineers should approach their work and nurture a strong engineering culture
- Collaborate with both the data team and other engineering teams to develop technology and architectural strategies
- Exemplify technical innovation and contribute to the design, implementation, and operational success of key systems
- Develop frameworks for technology and architectural decisions that integrate engineering best practices
- Gain expertise in the business process domain to support business needs and align technologies with desired outcomes
- Work closely with engineering leadership to formulate and execute the companys technical and business strategies
- Conduct impact assessments to proactively identify changes across multiple applications and systems
- Perform technical assessments and due diligence on third-party technologies and solutions
- Experiment with new ideas, validate assumptions, and recommend viable solutions
- Document standards, best practices, and engineering artifacts for clarity in building and maintaining top-tier software systems
- Troubleshoot critical production issues and implement effective solutions across multiple applications/systems
- Lead ongoing learning and process enhancement initiatives to uplift design and engineering practices
- Contribute to talent development by participating in hiring and mentoring staff members
