Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of relevant professional experience in the cybersecurity industry
- 3+ years of management or leadership experience with direct people oversight
- 5+ years of experience in an Incident Response or Security Operations role
- Multi-cloud security experience, including AWS, Azure, and GCP
- Expert-level knowledge of Detection Engineering and Security Operations
- Extensive experience in Information Security, Network Security, Security Monitoring, and Incident Response
- Proficient in developing SIEM/SOAR detection and automation use cases
- Familiarity with various security technologies such as Threat Intelligence, Firewalls, SASE, IPS, Endpoint Security, DLP, and Data Lakes
- In-depth understanding of the attack kill chain and diamond model
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
Desirable:
- Relevant certifications such as GSEC, GCIA, GFE, GCFA, CISA, CISSP, CISM, or CIA
- Experience in Development, DevOps, Engineering, Network, or System Administration
Responsibilities
- Define the strategy and roadmap for Detection Engineering to achieve key objectives
- Develop and implement sophisticated threat detection methods utilizing SIEM, EDR, NDR, and SOAR tools
- Craft innovative custom detection rules and automated remediation playbooks based on the organizations threat landscape
- Utilize industry-standard MITRE frameworks to assess detection coverage and address potential gaps
- Continuously monitor, optimize, and enhance detection system performance and scalability
- Collaborate with the Threat Detection and Response team to improve cybersecurity capabilities
- Conduct attack simulation tests to validate the effectiveness of use cases and engage in purple teaming exercises
- Oversee SIEM/Data Lake management and log ingestion infrastructure in conjunction with Cyber Defense Engineering
- Assess, validate, and improve detection capabilities as needed
- Maintain essential operational guidelines, diagrams, and documentation for security detection and response
- Work closely with the incident response team for prompt detection and containment of cyber threats
- Deliver technical advice for developing detection use cases during high-severity security incidents
- Enhance detection and response processes based on experience from incidents
- Support off-hour security administration, detection, and response activities as needed
- Utilize threat intelligence to bolster detection capabilities and proactively address risks
- Analyze and incorporate new and emerging threat vectors into detection strategies
- Collaborate with various Cybersecurity, Engineering, and Product teams to align detection strategies with company goals
- Communicate detection capabilities and findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including executives
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for all detection processes and tools
- Maintain thorough documentation of detection strategies, processes, and configurations
