Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field along with 8 years of experience, or a masters degree with 6 years of experience, or a Ph.D. with 3 years in a related domain, or 20 years of equivalent experience - At least 3 years of experience in a managerial or leadership position - Comprehensive understanding of API technologies and protocols (REST, GraphQL, gRPC) along with architectural designs - Awareness of data management practices, including data quality, metadata governance, and data lineage - Experience with API management solutions and data cataloging software - Knowledge of API security standards and data protection strategies - Proficiency in data modeling, database technologies, and data integration methodologies - Strong analytical skills capable of making strategic choices with incomplete information - Exceptional communication and persuasive abilities to foster agreement among stakeholders - Proven project management skills with a successful record of managing complex projects - Experience in change management, including training and promoting organizational adoption - Skillful in balancing technical expectations with business necessities and risk assessment needs

Responsibilities

- Create and uphold comprehensive governance policies, standards, and procedures for APIs and data sets across the enterprise - Establish governance throughout the lifecycle covering design, development, release, versioning, decommissioning, and retirement - Define and ensure adherence to design criteria, naming conventions, authentication/authorization models, and data quality standards - Develop governance scorecards and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of the program - Ensure thorough metadata documentation detailing purpose, ownership, dependencies, usage limitations, and data lineage - Implement classification and tagging schemes based on sensitivity and compliance criteria - Compile a catalog of essential source data and APIs, including metadata illustrating how data is created, accessed, utilized, and shared - Collaborate with Legal, Privacy, and Security teams to guarantee adherence to data contracts, privacy laws, and security obligations - Implement data quality standards and policies for essential data sets - Integrate governance processes into development cycles in conjunction with product and engineering teams - Promote governance awareness through training initiatives, communication strategies, and change management techniques - Advise API and data set owners on governance compliance needs - Continually enhance governance workflows based on stakeholder feedback and changing organizational requirements

We are seeking a Data Governance Senior Manager for APIs and Data Sets at Cox Automotive. In this role, you will establish and implement governance frameworks for critical APIs and data, ensuring they remain secure, compliant, and innovative.
