Requirements
Must:
- Minimum 3 years of progressive facilities management experience in hospitality or a related field; or a 2-year college degree with 1 year of relevant management experience.
- High school diploma or equivalent is essential.
- Stationary Engineers license required as per local regulations.
- Required skills include HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing, boiler operations, and general maintenance.
- Ability to work long hours as necessary.
- Must be capable of exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 50 pounds frequently, and/or 20 pounds constantly.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor at all times.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills with all staff and guests in a courteous and service-oriented manner.
- Strong listening skills to address and clarify concerns from employees and guests.
- Capacity to multitask and prioritize departmental responsibilities to meet deadlines.
- Display attentiveness and courtesy when engaging with guests and employees.
- Attendance at all mandatory hotel meetings and training sessions is required.
- Availability for managerial on-duty coverage as needed.
- Regular attendance in accordance with Highgate Hotel Standards and variable scheduling.
- Maintain high standards of personal grooming and appearance, including wearing nametags.
- Compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations.
- Focus on productivity, identifying issues, and assisting in implementing solutions.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues.
- Ability to comprehend and analyze complex information and data from various sources to meet objectives.
- Handle confidential information with discretion.
- Complete other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in formulating and executing plans to maintain the property, equipment, grounds, and other assets in safe and acceptable conditions.
- Ensure hotel compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Supervise and guide all engineering staff in customer service, empowerment, standard procedures, and loss prevention.
- Create and manage schedules for all engineering staff.
- Develop and adhere to the departments annual budget.
- Collaborate in financial forecasting and engage in monthly profit/loss review meetings.
- Establish and execute a preventative maintenance program for all hotel equipment.
- Regularly inspect, test, and certify all emergency and life safety systems according to Highgate Hotel standards.
- Actively engage in energy conservation initiatives.
- Review guest and meeting planner feedback to identify and rectify concerns promptly.
- Ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
- Assist in managing vendor contracts associated with the engineering department.
- Ensure prompt and courteous handling of room maintenance requests.
- Immediately respond to all alarms to determine location and cause, assess emergency status, and report findings to the Front Desk while taking necessary actions.
- Assist with special projects and renovations as needed.
- Support and actively engage in all Highgate Hotel programs.
- Participate in Highgate Hotel Safety Committee activities.
