Requirements
Must:
- Strong proficiency in PHP, JavaScript, MySQL, and WooCommerce-specific development
- Experience in custom plugin development and creating tailored eCommerce features
- Expertise in integrating high-risk payment gateways and alternative payment systems
- Comprehensive understanding of site performance optimization, A/B testing, SEO, and CRO methods
- Previous experience in industries facing regulatory challenges or high-risk payment scenarios (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of eCommerce systems architecture and high-revenue online retail
- Experience with PCI compliance and regulatory requirements for high-risk sectors
- Familiarity with security best practices in payment processing and eCommerce systems
- Over 5 years of hands-on WooCommerce and WordPress development experience with a proven record of custom builds
- Familiarity with headless WooCommerce or custom front-end frameworks is advantageous
- Knowledge of DevOps, Agile/Scrum, and modern software delivery practices
- Ability to manage and prioritize several projects, demonstrating strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Experience within supplements, CBD, or other regulated sectors (bonus)
- Experience with advanced tools like Salesforce Commerce Cloud (SFCC), API integrations, and enterprise-level architecture (bonus)
- Understanding of cloud hosting and capabilities for efficient system scaling (bonus)
Responsibilities
- Build a custom WooCommerce store specifically designed to meet the unique requirements of our business from the ground up, avoiding templates
- Optimize the platform for speed, performance, and scalability, with a focus on high-traffic periods and sustainable growth
- Create and implement custom checkout experiences that enhance user interaction and improve conversion rates
- Integrate and handle alternative and high-risk payment processors to ensure secure transaction processing
- Ensure platform adherence to industry regulations, security protocols, and PCI compliance, maintaining a secure and stable eCommerce environment
- Set up and manage the hosting environment, preferably utilizing a VPS or cloud-based solution to guarantee scalability, uptime, and security
- Collaborate closely with business, marketing, operations, and IT teams to convert business requirements into technical solutions
- Monitor site performance, resolve issues, and apply enhancements to boost scalability, reliability, and customer satisfaction

We are a growing eCommerce company in the cannabis sector looking for a highly skilled WooCommerce Developer to craft and scale a fully custom WooCommerce store. We seek a long-term partner who can grow alongside us and provide strategic contributions over time. This role is pivotal, allowing you to build our eCommerce platform from scratch with a focus on speed, conversion optimization, compliance, and security within a regulated industry.
