Requirements
Must:
- Senior-level software engineering experience in delivering complete production systems
- Strong backend development skills in TypeScript/Node.js (mandatory)
- Proficient in AWS, including fundamentals of networking and IAM for deploying production services
- Experience in building and managing AI-powered applications, including LLM integration and orchestration
- Security-focused mindset covering threat modeling, data handling, and auditability skills
- Familiarity with observability tools such as OpenTelemetry, Datadog, or CloudWatch (preferred)
- Possession of network/security credentials such as CCNP, CCNA Security, or relevant AWS Security certifications (advantageous)
- Knowledge of Python for automation and AI tools (plus)
- Some experience in DevOps practices like CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code (IaaC) with tools like CDK or Terraform (beneficial)
- Understanding of React is helpful but not essential
Responsibilities
- Design and implement internal AI-driven services and tools, including assistants and workflow automations
- Develop orchestration patterns for AI workflows involving pipelines and agent interactions
- Take ownership of backend architecture and its implementation primarily using TypeScript/Node.js
- Drive the selection and evaluation of models focusing on quality, latency, cost, and safety while managing rollouts and rollbacks
- Establish prompt/config/versioning practices alongside continuous model evaluation for AI behavior monitoring
- Build operational readiness through metrics, alerts, runbooks, and incident response strategies
- Implement security controls throughout the AI stack, including identity access management and data encryption
- Automate security workflows and collaborate on strengthening network security standards
- Apply secure-by-design methodologies for internal AI systems to ensure data minimization and controlled access
- Build and manage AWS workloads using practical DevOps methodologies while securely integrating AI services
- Collaborate with our internal AWS Cloud Engineering team for deeper involvement in cloud engineering tasks
Description
We are a consulting firm dedicated to serving our oil & gas clients and are currently looking for a senior-level engineer to develop and operate internal AI-enabled applications and automation in a dynamic setting. The role centers around AI application development, orchestration, and AI Ops/LLMOps. We emphasize a security-first approach to delivery and aim to ensure that our operations are reliable and cost-effective. This role offers flexibility to work in a hybrid model from our office in Houston, TX, with a potential start as a one-month contract that could extend based on business needs. We offer a competitive pay rate ranging from $65 to $90 per hour along with the possibility of flexible scheduling for dedicated candidates.
