Requirements
Must:
- Minimum 1 year of experience in supporting Windows Server environments
- Familiarity with VMware or virtualized platforms
- Basic understanding of Windows Server principles and best practices for VM management
- Ability to conduct basic OS-level troubleshooting (disk space, CPU/memory utilization, basic networking)
- Eagerness to learn and adhere to established operational guidelines
- Experience or exposure to IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
- Basic knowledge of monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds)
- Strong documentation and verbal communication skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team-oriented operational setting
- Organized, dependable, and capable of following instructions autonomously
- Comfort in working within a cross-functional enterprise organization
- Must successfully pass a drug test and federal background check
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine monitoring of Windows servers, including CPU, memory, disk, and network usage
- Respond to both automated and manual alerts, documenting findings in the ticketing system
- Aid in basic remediation tasks such as clearing temporary files and managing disk space
- Monitor and help minimize C:/ drive usage, tracking non-root disk utilization
- Escalate issues concerning server outages, ongoing performance degradation, or packet loss
- Log off disconnected users to help alleviate server strain
- Assist with virtual machine migrations between hosts under the guidance of senior team members
- Participate in Major Incident management sessions and adhere to established escalation protocols
- Support Level 2 technicians with basic diagnostics and checks on server health
- Verify VMware Tools status and report any inconsistencies
- Utilize Microsoft operating system tools for troubleshooting and data gathering
- Troubleshoot fundamental OS and networking issues (e.g., resource usage, vNIC checks, proxy settings)
- Restart or power cycle servers using RDP or VMware tools following approved procedures
- Provide basic operational reports upon request from Business Unit (non-audit)
- Support Global Command Center operations, including hotline coverage, issue intake, and monitoring coverage
