Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in information security, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least 6 years of experience in cybersecurity, focusing on cloud security, compliance, and risk management, alongside a background in system and network security engineering.
- A minimum of 5 years of direct AWS security experience.
- Proven track record in creating secure, scalable AWS architectures that meet industry security frameworks and best practices.
- Experience in adopting and applying federal cybersecurity standards, including the NIST Cybersecurity Framework (CSF), OMB Memorandum M-22-09, and NIST SP 800-53.
- Deep knowledge of IAM, network security design, operational security, architectural security, data protection/DLP concepts, Zero Trust principles, DevSecOps practices, and vulnerability management.
- Familiarity with AWS security services, scripting capabilities, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) workflows.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting abilities for independent resolution of complex security issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with a talent for providing proactive security consultation and support to engineering teams and stakeholders.
- Self-driven, capable of working autonomously, and consistently focused on details.
Responsibilities
- Conduct routine security assessments of cloud infrastructure utilized by engineering teams.
- Assess infrastructure-as-code (IaC) for compliance with security protocols; identify and log misconfigurations and non-compliant controls.
- Validate compliance with security policies, industry best practices, and the AWS Well-Architected Framework (Security Pillar).
- Implement and fine-tune AWS security mechanisms and services to aid security enhancement and risk mitigation.
- Create and sustain cloud security posture dashboards and reporting tools.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive security configuration documentation, standards, and operational playbooks.
- Provide direct technical security guidance to engineering teams regarding secure implementation best practices.
- Present insights, suggestions, and risk evaluations during team meetings and stakeholder discussions.
- Conduct security training for engineering personnel and foster a culture of security-by-design.
- Identify possibilities for automating security evaluations and suggest improvements for security tools.
