Requirements
Must:
- Experience with enterprise telephony platforms (Avaya, Nortel, Cisco Call Manager, Unity)
- Proficiency in VoIP protocols and troubleshooting skills (SIP, RTP, SRTP, H.323, packet analysis)
- Knowledge in network engineering for voice (QoS, VLANs, WAN, latency/jitter management)
- Experience with Microsoft Teams Phone and cloud voice integration (Direct Routing, Operator Connect)
- Familiarity with Session Border Controllers (Ribbon, AudioCodes, SIP normalization)
- Background in telephony migrations and modernization (PBX to IP/cloud transitions)
- Understanding of voice security and compliance standards (E911, call recording, TLS/SRTP, fraud prevention)
- Skilled in performance monitoring and capacity planning (CDRs, MOS, RTMT)
- Experience with infrastructure integration (AD, DNS/DHCP, virtualization, client/carrier connectivity)
- Knowledge of architecture governance and lifecycle management (standards, HA/DR, vendor oversight)
Responsibilities
- Direct the architectural design and long-term evolution of enterprise voice systems, merging legacy PBX platforms with IP and cloud telephony solutions.
- Establish scalable, resilient, highly available, and secure telephony architectures in line with the companys infrastructure and cloud strategies.
- Define technology standards, reference architectures, and design patterns for voice systems.
- Contribute to governance of enterprise architecture and multi-year modernization roadmaps for voice.
- Assess emerging voice technologies and provide recommendations for strategic adoption.
- Oversee the deployment, upgrades, migrations, and decommissioning of telephony platforms across the organization.
- Lead organized migration initiatives from legacy PBX to IP and cloud solutions, minimizing disruption to business operations.
- Implement formal change, release, and configuration management processes.
- Formulate lifecycle management strategies, including planning for hardware/software refreshes and maintaining inventory governance.
- Ensure high availability and business continuity for voice services, including disaster recovery planning.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting for intricate voice and signaling issues.
- Collaborate with network engineering teams to optimize voice quality and manage traffic prioritization.
- Monitor system health and capacity; spearhead proactive performance tuning and capacity planning efforts.
- Drive initiatives for continuous service improvement to enhance operational efficiency and user experience.
- Act as an escalation point for critical incidents affecting voice services.
- Serve as the enterprise Subject Matter Expert for voice services, translating business needs into technical solutions.
- Advise senior leadership on telephony investment, risks, and modernization strategies.
- Lead vendor interactions, including RFP evaluations, contract reviews, and technical negotiations.
- Influence teams across functions to align voice services with overall digital workplace strategies.
- Ensure telephony environments adhere to corporate security and regulatory standards.
- Create and maintain in-depth technical documentation, network diagrams, and standard procedures.
- Contribute to governance frameworks and operational controls related to telephony.
- Support audit activities and risk assessments linked to voice infrastructure.
