Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors degree in a relevant field with significant industry experience (7-15 years) or a Technical Masters degree with some industry exposure (2-12 years) or a Ph.D. from a rigorous program with limited industry experience (0-7 years)
- Experience in managing multinational and multicultural projects is an asset
- Familiarity with Jama is beneficial
- Knowledge of battery systems, particularly Li-Io, Na-Ion, or supercapacitors
Responsibilities
- Conduct requirements analysis specifically for projects related to electrical performance, mechanical limitations, and system context within customer vehicle architecture, assigning requirements across all development areas
- Define the system architecture, including sizing and battery cell selection alongside electronic hardware based on the core product range
- Manage subsystems support requirements, including Functional Safety, OBD2, process compliance, and software
- Provide explicit technical guidance to designers, engineers, suppliers, and support staff, fostering collaboration among geographically dispersed engineering teams to deliver cohesive systems that fulfill all requirements
- Lead and contribute to the specification and design of battery components—mechanical, electrical, software—balancing compromises to achieve optimal system performance
- Collaborate with the manufacturing team to evaluate and implement design for manufacturability (DFM) principles ensuring that all components and subsystems, as well as the total battery system, are designed for efficient and scalable production
- Present the system concept to clients and negotiate requirement deviations as necessary
- Manage and improve the overall system Bill of Materials, spearheading cost-saving measures and value engineering initiatives
- Assist in the planning of engineering as well as testing and validation efforts
- Oversee prototype builds to guarantee they meet testing objectives and customer sample criteria
