System Administrator with Linux expertise

- Provide support for the Citys computer network, networked applications, and IP telephony - Utilize help-desk ticketing software to process requests and communicate status updates - Monitor and analyze the network to troubleshoot existing issues and identify potential concerns - Manage assigned IT projects, setting goals, maintaining timelines, coordinating team members, and liaising with vendors - Collaborate on projects individually and in teams to meet deadlines, including software installations and hardware upgrades - Secure data by creating, modifying, and disabling Active Directory user accounts and managing permissions on network shares - Make decisions and procure necessary City system equipment - Provide 24/7 on-call support to emergency services, including Police and Fire departments - Maintain the integrity of City data through security and access management - Manage backups, restorations, and regular maintenance of data libraries - Build vendor relationships, focusing on service scheduling, purchasing negotiations, and addressing concerns - Administer and manage mobile device management (MDM), ensuring compliance with City standards and providing technical support - Search for requested information in City systems to fulfill open records requests - Write and maintain documentation, including flow charts, user manuals, and installation instructions - Stay informed about emerging technologies - Communicate professionally and courteously while maintaining working relationships - Advise management on the decommissioning of old hardware/software and the implementation of new technologies - Follow safe work practices and report unsafe conditions - Perform other duties as assigned
