Requirements

Must:
- Bachelors degree in information systems, computer science, or a related field, or a high school diploma/GED with corresponding experience - Minimum three years of professional and technical experience with network systems, or seven years with a high school diploma/GED - Experience in installation and maintenance of network systems, including firewalls, network design, Internet, Intranet, and wireless support - Must complete a fingerprint-based criminal background screening and obtain Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) certification within 30 days of employment - Valid Class-E State drivers license required at the time of hiring - Extensive knowledge of network protocols such as TCP/IP, UDP, BGP, and OSPF - Proficient in routing, switching, and core network security principles - Experience with managing network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls - Familiarity with operating systems like Cisco IOS and platforms such as Palo Alto Networks - Know-how in firewall administration tools (e.g., Cisco ASA, Fortinet) - Comprehensive understanding of network security principles, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, and encryption technologies

Responsibilities

- Install, support, and maintain the citys network infrastructure, encompassing LAN, WAN, and telecommunications systems - Enforce and implement network security standards to safeguard data, systems, and users within the organization - Assess and propose hardware, software, and telecom solutions that support organizational objectives - Monitor network performance, resolve issues, and proactively manage system vulnerabilities - Collaborate with internal departments and the Technology Infrastructure team to guarantee reliable connectivity and secure access - Participate in long-term planning, design, and deployment of network upgrades and new technologies - Keep documentation updated and produce written reports to assist in visibility, planning, and compliance efforts - Independently manage multiple priorities while applying sound technical judgment
