Requirements
Must:
- Undergraduate or recent graduate immersed in art history, photography, or a related discipline. A passion for archives, scholarship, and/or museum studies is advantageous.
- Previous training in photography history and a solid understanding of photographic materials and techniques is essential.
- Familiarity with collections databases and responsible handling of fine art is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in managing art objects and navigating art storage environments.
- A keen attention to detail is mandatory.
- Ability to function independently as well as part of a team is crucial.
- Submission of a cover letter and references is required.

Responsibilities
- Enhance and broaden the object cataloging available to the public through the museums collection database, TMS.
- Conduct thorough examinations of artworks and object files, and perform research in CAM archives or other online collections.
- Adhere to cataloging standards to document findings in TMS, updating physical objects and artist files as needed.
- Record instances of collection stewardship ranging from care requirements to significant new opportunities for scholarship and interpretation.
- Option to publish a capstone writing project on the museums blog or another platform.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Description
We are the Cincinnati Art Museum, currently seeking a Collection Intern for Photography for our summer program. During this 12-week paid internship from June to August 2026, the intern will work 15-18 hours per week. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with our photography collection and learn about collection documentation and care practices. The intern will collaborate with various museum professionals, including conservators and registrars, while observing curatorial processes related to exhibitions, acquisitions, and audience engagement.
