Requirements
Must:
- I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or a related field, or I possess equivalent experience (8 years) in a relevant role.
- I have extensive technical knowledge of Local Area Networks and Access Networks.
- I possess advanced level experience with multiple routing protocols, including EIGRP, BGP, iBGP, and OSPF.
- I have a strong understanding of network LAN redundancy, and I am capable of designing and supporting highly redundant networks using HSRP or CSM, incorporating multiple layers of redundancy, including logical and physical configurations.
- I have advanced level knowledge in LAN protocol management, encompassing address management and network protocols.
- I have experience with one or more of the following models: Aruba/Cisco routers, switches, and WLAN technologies; firewalls, IPS and similar technologies; SD-WAN technologies; F5 hardware/software technologies; WAN Optimizers (Silverpeak); and Cisco/Avaya Voice over IP Networks (VOIP).
- I possess knowledge of local and wide area networking on multiple platforms (Windows, Linux, and VMware), network protocols and routing, network/server/host operating systems, IP networking, internet and intranet technologies, email, groupware, office automation and collaboration technologies, as well as voice and/or data communications and networking.
- I have a total of eight (8) years of experience in a large corporate systems environment with a wide variety of Information Management systems, networks, and technologies.
- I possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience in network engineering, design, implementation, and support of large scale LAN, WLAN, and WANs.
- Prior experience in a healthcare systems environment is a plus.
- One or more of the following certifications are preferred: Cisco & Aruba Certification, Ekahau or Air Magnet Certification.
Responsibilities
- I plan and coordinate the future state of the networks for our information management, designing network solutions that align with our organization’s vision and strategy. This involves planning, prioritizing, and managing projects, service requests, and routine assignments.
- I analyze network configurations for critical corporate resources, evaluate changes and additions for proposed system acquisitions, and provide critical input to the decision-making process regarding integration, operations, costs, resource requirements, and maintenance. Additionally, I develop plans and recommendations to enhance the performance and efficiency of the network.
- I integrate network components, subsystems, and facilities into our existing technical environment, assess network systems availability, bandwidth, and throughput, install, configure, and verify the operation of network components, and maintain or improve integration and operation of systems relative to the overall environment.
- I design, implement, and oversee a proactive process to collect and report data and statistics on the internetworking environment, ensuring that the systems operate efficiently to meet organizational needs. I also ensure that systems are kept at the most current stable version/release using vendor-supplied updates and patches, conducting research and testing to verify the impact of all updates.
- I maintain in-depth knowledge and current certification in internetworking technologies, including but not limited to vendor certifications, and I perform other duties as assigned.
Description
This position is a strategic role that provides an advanced level of technical skill and expertise in Network Engineering, as well as a tactical position involved in executing networking operations. I manage and maintain data and voice networks, leveraging my extensive technical knowledge and experience in operational maintenance, network availability, capacity planning, and monitoring of critical Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Network (WAN), and related environments. I am responsible for systems integration, design, and tier III technical support for network systems and technology platforms. My day-to-day activities include network provisioning, performance tuning, adding networks, scripting to automate tasks, assigning ports, error tracking, data movement, software configurations, product evaluation, and addressing interoperability issues. Additionally, I work as part of a cross-functional team that addresses the full spectrum of technology, fulfilling the role of third-level support for network technologies and providing training and direction to other technical staff who handle the bulk of the first and second level support tasks.
