Must:
We require candidates to possess a High School diploma or an equivalent qualification. Coursework in Information Systems beyond high school is preferred. An IT-related certification is also favored, along with a valid New Mexico Driver’s License.
Essential skills include demonstrated customer service abilities, a foundational understanding of desktop operating systems and associated software, and the capacity to foster positive customer relationships. You should be able to articulate complex solutions and issues in simple terms, regardless of the user's technical proficiency. Strong problem-solving and communication skills are essential, along with proficient technical writing and documentation abilities. Prior experience of at least one year in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of personal computers is advantageous.

As a Desktop Support Technician I, I am responsible for the daily operational support of our end-user community. This includes the installation, setup, upgrading, and maintenance of workstations and peripheral gear. I will address issues reported by the Information Systems Service Desk and implement new functionalities. Adhering to organizational policies, procedures, and standards while maintaining comprehensive documentation is a critical aspect of this role. My goal is to provide high-quality, cost-effective solutions to users at all levels, supporting both technology and processes. Additionally, I will contribute to our business goals and objectives within the department and the broader Information Services Organization.
Description
I will report directly to the Manager of Desktop Support Services. My work environment includes a general office setting with some exposure to computer room conditions, patient care environments, and potential biohazard considerations. I will spend considerable time using video display terminals and keyboards. Physical requirements entail the ability to lift and maneuver objects generally not exceeding 50 lbs. I may need to retrieve items located up to 8 feet above the floor, typically using a step stool. I will ensure to follow sound ergonomic principles during prolonged use of computer displays and keyboards.
