Requirements
Must:
- Associate’s degree in computer science or a related discipline
- 8 years of experience in maritime network/system administration
- Proficiency in U.S. maritime industry network best practices
- Experience with maritime/vessel network operations, development, and security
- Familiarity with marine operations and IT methodologies for shipboard applications
- Knowledge of U.S. Coast Guard and International Maritime Organization network regulations
- Experience with network architecture, VM configuration, server administration, and emergency response
- Familiarity with CISCO networks and administration of Windows Server, Linux, and Active Directory
- Ability to collaborate with clients to assess needs and address issues
- Understanding of project management principles and quality assurance techniques
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, Power BI, and SharePoint
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Must pass pre-employment qualifications and be eligible for public trust clearance
Responsibilities
- Provide IT Network Engineering and System Administration support for the NSMV Program
- Act as a key resource for network operations and server services
- Participate directly with the MARAD Program Office on NSMV network acceptance and testing
- Generate regular reports related to network performance
- Collaborate with MARAD’s Office of Ship Operations to support government-owned vessels
- Assist in the evaluation and training of contracted Ship Managers and government ship operators
- Support mitigation and remediation processes following approved corrective action plans
- Offer expertise in network architecture throughout the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Administer and maintain Windows Server and Linux environments
- Manage Active Directory services, including user, group, and authentication management
- Execute server patching, system monitoring, and operational troubleshooting
- Manage virtualization technologies including VMware vSphere/ESXi and associated services
- Implement cybersecurity hardening measures by applying relevant compliance frameworks
- Maintain system documentation, baselines, and backup/recovery procedures
