Requirements

Must:
- Associate’s degree in computer science or a related field, coupled with 8 years of experience in the following areas: - Knowledge of U.S. maritime industry network best practices. - Proficiency in maritime/vessel network operations, development, security, and production. - Familiarity with marine operations and IT methodologies sufficient to select and apply shipboard principles. - Understanding of U.S. Coast Guard and International Maritime Organization network standards. - Expertise in maritime network architecture, VM configuration and maintenance, server administration, hardware, software, IT space configuration, and emergency response. - Experience with CISCO networks. - Competence in administering Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, and enterprise infrastructure services. - Ability to collaborate with stakeholders to assess needs, provide support, and solve issues effectively. - Knowledge of project management principles, including resource scheduling, coordination, and performance monitoring. - Familiarity with quality assurance and control methods to validate product compliance with requirements and standards. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Teams, Power BI, Tableau, and SharePoint. - U.S. Citizenship is mandatory. - Must successfully meet pre-employment qualifications set by Cherokee Federal. - Eligibility for public trust clearance or the ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

- Provide IT Network Engineering and System Administration Support for the Office of Maritime Security and the National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) Program at DOT Maritime Administration (MARAD). - Serve as a leading resource for MARAD on network operations, server and virtualization services, cybersecurity hardening, network development, and production, supporting interagency maritime programs. - Engage directly with MARAD Program Office on network acceptance and testing matters relating to NSMV, including preparing regular reports. - Collaborate closely with MARAD’s Office of Ship Operations to ensure government-owned vessels and shore support are always operational in alignment with Department of Defense and Homeland Security requirements. - Assist in the evaluation and remediation process using approved corrective action plans from MARAD leadership. - Provide network architecture and security expertise to facilitate the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC). - Offer network support to the MARAD NSMV Program Office and other stakeholders, maintaining operational integrity and securing Authority to Operate (ATO) for NSMVs. - Administer and sustain Windows Server and Linux systems in both shipboard and shore environments. - Manage Active Directory, including user accounts, groups, GPOs, authentication services, certificates, DNS, DHCP, and related enterprise services. - Execute server patching, configuration management, system monitoring, and operational troubleshooting. - Oversee VMware vSphere/ESXi hosts, vCenter, virtual networking, storage, and shipboard virtualization clusters. - Implement DISA STIGs for Windows Server, Linux, VMware ESXi, and network appliances to ensure cybersecurity compliance. - Maintain system documentation, backup/recovery procedures, and configuration standards.
