Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) or equivalent experience.
- Over five years of professional experience in automation and control systems design.
- Strong proficiency with PLC hardware and programming, along with automation controls and control systems.
- Ability to collaborate on large-scale projects.
- Familiarity with Electrical Standards (NFPA79, National Electric Code, UL508A).
- Understanding of safety standards (ANSI B11/RIA 15, OSHA).
- Proficient in CAD for modifying and creating electrical schematics.
- Knowledgeable in HMI and various programming languages.
- Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation 2-4 times per month.
- Must be a US citizen or Green Card holder.
“Nice to Have” Experience:
- Proven experience in full-cycle project management of CapEx projects.
- Over eight years of experience in automation and control systems design.
- Familiarity with multiple PLC languages.
- Experience in power systems and power electronics.
- Expertise in programming and tuning variable frequency drives.
- Background in heavy industrial or similar environments.
- Experience in fast-paced iterative design and manufacturing settings.
- Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet networks, wireless networks, and fieldbus networking.
- Familiarity with motion control systems featuring motors, drives, and encoders.
- Understanding of cybersecurity protocols and secure system methods.
Responsibilities
- Tackle complex control engineering challenges and program using IEC 61131-3 languages with Rockwell Automation and Siemens tools.
- Provide around-the-clock support for our operations while managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Work collaboratively with maintenance and operations teams to identify and resolve root causes, minimize downtime, and enhance safety.
- Design, select, manage, program, and deploy automation equipment to upgrade existing systems, including PLC programming and interfacing with HMI, MES, and SQL databases.
- Assist internal and external partners in understanding design standards, implementation strategies, and best practices, while ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Seek opportunities to enhance safety, cut costs, improve efficiency, and elevate quality.
- Mentor and train colleagues to boost safety, reduce downtime, and broaden off-hour support capabilities.
