Requirements
Must:
- 10+ years of experience in DevOps, including 5+ years in a leadership role for a DevOps or SRE team managing production systems.
- Demonstrated hands-on expertise in managing production AWS accounts, including task responsibilities such as:
- Participation in on-call rotations
- Incident management
- Ownership of SLA/SLO agreements
- Strong practical knowledge of:
- CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions, Artifactory (JFROG), and ECR
- Container technologies including Docker, Docker Compose, and Kubernetes
- Cloud services, specifically AWS and AWS GovCloud
- Linux administration, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and automation practices
- Scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or NodeJS
- Networking principles and AWS Landing Zone architectures
- Solid understanding of Site Reliability Engineering concepts, encompassing monitoring strategies, alert fatigue reduction, and reliability metrics.
- Proven experience in constructing production-safe CI/CD pipelines with integrated quality checks and automated validations.
- Background in software development focusing on automation, maintainability, and quality assurance.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- A proactive leader with emphasis on a reliability-first and production-oriented mindset.
- (Preferred) Familiarity with FedRAMP, IRAP, or similar regulated cloud compliance frameworks.
- (Preferred) Experience with highly regulated, air-gapped, or government cloud environments.
- (Preferred) Track record of establishing enterprise-level reliability metrics and reporting.
- (Preferred) Knowledge of cost optimization practices (FinOps) in production settings.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the DevOps/SRE team that manages production environments, providing both technical guidance and operational excellence.
- Mentor engineering staff to enhance the teams capabilities in DevOps/SRE.
- Take ownership of production AWS accounts, ensuring aspects like availability, stability, security, compliance, and cost efficiency are met.
- Define, implement, and continuously refine Site Reliability Engineering practices.
- Establish SLAs and SLOs that align with business and customer needs.
- Manage error budgets to find a balance between reliability and delivery speed.
- Conduct production readiness evaluations and reliability assessments.
- Engage actively in the design, development, and enhancement of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud environments.
- Optimize CI/CD procedures for production-ready cloud infrastructure, particularly in AWS Commercial and AWS GovCloud.
- Architect and maintain highly available, resilient, and scalable production frameworks, emphasizing networking and AWS Landing Zone designs.
- Fulfill the role of production owner by leading:
- Incident response and escalation efforts
- Post-incident reviews (RCA/postmortems)
- Preventative measures for reliability improvement.
- Work closely with development, security, compliance, and cloud engineering teams to integrate reliability throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Enforce best practices in SDLC and DevOps, prioritizing clean code, version control, testing, and high-quality automation.
- Drive initiatives to enhance and shorten development and deployment cycles while safeguarding production stability through controlled rollouts and rollback strategies.
- Establish observability standards for production systems, focusing on monitoring, alerting, logging, and metrics.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex, real-time production incidents, ensuring system stability, performance, and compliance.
