Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Over 8 years of experience in network engineering, network operations, or network testing roles, with a minimum of 3 years specifically in data center networking.
- At least 3 years in a senior or lead technical position, mentoring junior engineers or managing test initiatives.
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking protocols in large-scale data center settings (e.g., BGP, OSPF, ISIS, MPLS).
- Extensive experience with modern data center interconnect technologies (EVPN/VxLAN).
- Strong understanding of high-performance networking, including RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) and associated congestion control methods (PFC, ECN, DCQCN).
- Familiarity with network operating systems such as SONiC (preferred), Cisco NX-OS, Arista EOS, and Juniper Junos.
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Go) for test automation, API integration, and data handling.
- Experience with network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform, Netmiko, NAPALM).
- Skilled in building and maintaining test frameworks (e.g., Robot Framework, Pytest).
- Proven ability in designing and executing various network tests: functional, performance (throughput, latency, jitter), scalability, reliability, and security.
- Expertise with network testing tools (e.g., IXIA, Spirent, Keysight, TRex, Ostinato, SmartBits).
- Strong packet analysis and troubleshooting capabilities using Wireshark, tcpdump, or related tools.
- Proficient in Linux/Unix operating systems.
- Understanding of virtualization (VMware, KVM) and container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to isolate intricate network issues across multiple layers and technologies.
Responsibilities
- Define, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, plans, and cases for complex data center network solutions, including Layer 2/3, SDN, DCN, EVPN/VxLAN, and high-performance fabrics (e.g., RDMA/RoCE).
- Collaborate closely with network architecture and engineering teams to comprehend design specifications and translate them into effective testing methodologies.
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and scalability metrics for validating network performance.
- Execute complex network tests hands-on, including functional, performance, scalability, stability, and reliability assessments.
- Analyze testing outcomes, identify defects, conduct root cause investigations, and partner with development teams to address issues.
- Perform in-depth packet analysis and network protocol debugging using tools like Wireshark and tcpdump.
- Design, develop, and maintain advanced test automation frameworks and scripts (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform, Robot Framework) to enhance testing efficiency.
- Evaluate and recommend new testing tools and technologies for integration into our CI/CD workflows.
- Promote best practices in test automation and continuous integration.
- Mentor and lead a small team of networking test engineers, offering technical guidance, conducting code reviews, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Serve as the technical authority on network testing within the organization.
- Propel innovation in testing methodologies and procedures.
- Collaborate across various teams, including network architecture, development, operations, and product teams, to ensure thorough test coverage and deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Communicate testing progress, risks, and results effectively to stakeholders at all levels.
- Contribute to the creation of documentation, runbooks, and operational guides.
