Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors Degree
- Minimum of 7 years of expertise in application architecture and design patterns.
- At least 5 years of experience with distributed databases, microservice architectures, and highly available systems.
- Preferred: Degree in Computer Science or a Masters in Software Engineering.
- Hands-on experience with internals of Ray or Spark.
- Experience in creating platforms for LLM training, fine-tuning, or high-throughput inference.
- Familiarity with AWS-specific compute elements and cost-optimization strategies.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement control and data plane systems to create a highly available, multi-tenant, large-scale, and secure machine learning platform.
- Develop distributed compute engine solutions using Ray and Spark to enhance various workloads while optimizing compute economics.
- Drive operational excellence through the automation of Keep The Lights On workflows.
- Oversee the execution of diverse projects, working alongside developers in distributed microservices and large foundation models.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product and program management and stakeholders to refine business objectives and technology solutions.
- Stay updated on tech trends, experiment with new technologies, and lead system design and code review discussions.
- Contribute to the Capital One Distinguished Engineering community and serve as a resource on technology-related queries.
- Mentor internal talent and actively recruit external talent to strengthen our technical capabilities.
