Requirements
Must:
- We require a bachelors degree in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline, plus at least 8 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies; or a masters degree in one of these fields plus at least 6 years of equivalent experience.
- We require at least 8 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.
- We prefer 8 years of experience delivering scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud environments such as AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or comparable private cloud platforms.
- We prefer hands-on experience architecting, designing, building, integrating, shipping, and supporting complex AI systems.
- We prefer proven experience leading and mentoring multiple engineering teams and influencing cross-functional stakeholders up to the VP level.
- We prefer experience building and applying AI and ML technologies such as LLM inference, similarity search, VectorDBs, guardrails, and memory using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
- We prefer experience developing and applying advanced techniques to optimize training and inference software for better hardware utilization, latency, throughput, and cost.
- We prefer strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex AI concepts clearly to peers.
- We prefer a strong interest in the latest AI research and systems, with the judgment to apply new methods effectively in production.
- We value a strong engineering and mathematics foundation, along with deep technical knowledge across hardware, software, and AI.
- We seek someone who is adaptable, resilient, and able to bring clarity to ambiguous problems while taking initiative in uncharted situations.
Responsibilities
- We partner with engineers, research scientists, technical program managers, and product managers to deliver AI-powered products that improve how our associates work and how our customers engage with Capital One.
- We design, build, test, deploy, and support AI software components, including foundation model training, large language model inference, similarity search, guardrails, model evaluation, experimentation, governance, and observability.
- We use a broad range of open-source and SaaS AI tools and platforms such as AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, and PyTorch.
- We create and introduce cutting-edge LLM optimization approaches to improve scalability, cost efficiency, latency, throughput, and overall production performance.
- We contribute to the technical strategy and long-range roadmap for foundational AI systems across Capital One.
- We identify optimization opportunities, investigate root causes of complex technical issues, and communicate findings with clarity.
- We help shape responsible, scalable AI capabilities that can be leveraged across teams and customer experiences.
