Requirements
Must:
- Over 10 years of experience in IT, concentrating on application modernization and mainframe transformation.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience with Rocket Software (Micro Focus).
- Demonstrated expertise in architecting modernization using Rocket Enterprise Server / Enterprise Developer on Linux (SUSE preferred).
- Extensive knowledge in COBOL development, debugging, and modernization techniques.
- Proven track record in FDS implementation, troubleshooting, and environment stabilization.
- Strong Linux administration skills, particularly with SUSE, including configuration and governance.
- Experience in architecting migrations from mainframe to cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform.
- Background in managing PU updates, vendor escalations, and resolving platform issues.
- Knowledge of file management, Bitbucket systems, branching strategies, and controlled code promotions.
- Expertise in architecting and integrating batch operations with Control M.
- Competent in performance tuning, capacity planning, and runtime optimization.
- Familiarity with SSL/TLS certificate management and secure network communications.
- Proficient in Linux shell scripting for the purpose of automation and diagnostic tasks.
- In-depth understanding of CICS, IMS, XA resource configurations, and emulation environments.
- Familiar with IBM Mainframe technologies such as COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and flat files.
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience in leading cross-functional teams and impacting modernization initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Define modernization architecture, design target-state cloud solutions, and create COBOL migration strategies using Rocket Enterprise Server / Developer.
- Spearhead modernization projects that adhere to enterprise architecture and cloud governance frameworks.
- Develop mainframe to cloud infrastructure solutions, ideally on Google Cloud Platform, encompassing data migration, integrations, and operations oversight.
- Supervise the installation, configuration, scaling, and optimization of Rocket/Micro Focus environments on Linux (preferably SUSE).
- Authorize technical blueprints, system configurations, and performance capacity plans.
- Execute advanced troubleshooting across FDS, Linux, CICS, IMS, XA resources, and cloud environments.
- Oversee vendor collaborations with Rocket Software/Micro Focus for updates, patches, escalations, and remediation efforts.
- Establish standards for file management, Bitbucket governance, and code promotion processes to QA and production.
- Design and implement batch modernization and integrations using schedulers such as Control M.
- Formulate and implement enterprise-wide security protocols, including SSL/TLS certificate management and secure connectivity practices.
- Guide automation via Linux shell scripting, environment provisioning, and operational runbook development.
- Mentor teams, support global delivery models, and ensure seamless execution of modernization initiatives.
- Collaborate with mainframe subject matter experts to validate COBOL logic, performance metrics, and adherence to modernization standards.
