Requirements
Must:
- Bachelors or masters degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
- Over 12 years of experience in software engineering, with extensive technical leadership in intricate product environments
- Proven track record in architecting and scaling large distributed software systems for production use
- In-depth expertise in the primary framework (Rails), including request lifecycle and ActiveRecord
- Strong full-stack development skills in Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, and TypeScript
- Comprehensive understanding of cloud technologies, microservices architecture, and containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
- Solid grasp of performance optimization, security, reliability, and maintainability in extensive systems
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with a history of addressing complex technical issues
- Proven capability to manage complex situations, adapt to shifting priorities, and drive effective technical solutions
- Strong attention to detail and sound organizational judgment for effective prioritization
- Demonstrated ability to mentor senior engineers and guide technical direction across teams
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for simplifying complex technical ideas into actionable recommendations
- Continuous curiosity and a product-focused mindset, committed to learning and enhancing engineering results
Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership and strategic vision for large-scale software systems within CYPHER products
- Design scalable, high-performance solutions that align with long-term goals
- Tackle intricate technical challenges while ensuring system reliability, security, and maintainability
- Set and promote engineering standards across core areas like object-oriented design and error handling
- Guide technical direction through collaboration and influence, shaping architectural strategies
- Act as a high-level contributor by coding while also enhancing team capabilities, quality, and efficiency
- Mentor engineers of all skill levels and boost technical acumen in the organization
- Own the technical roadmap for the next 1-3 years, focusing on platform integrity and scalability
- Evaluate build-versus-buy scenarios, system upgrades, and refactoring about technical and organizational constraints
- Identify and mitigate platform-wide risks, including performance and security concerns
- Make informed technical decisions, even when facing challenging situations that may jeopardize platform durability
- Conduct technical risk assessments for pivotal initiatives, providing clear evaluations and trade-offs for effective planning
- Detect security vulnerabilities across applications and infrastructure, prioritizing remediation based on business impact
- Perform any other related duties as assigned
