Requirements
Must:
- 7-10 years of professional experience in data engineering or database specialization, with a solid portfolio of building and sustaining production-level cloud data systems.
- In-depth, hands-on expertise in the Google Cloud Platform, focusing on designing solutions involving BigQuery, Dataflow, Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Cloud SQL, and AlloyDB.
- Over 6 years of advanced experience in Python development aimed at data processing, automation, and crafting ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Expert-level understanding of PostgreSQL internals, including query planning, indexing, vacuuming, and locking mechanisms, alongside performance optimization.
- Proven experience in migrating complex databases from Oracle (preferably Exadata) to PostgreSQL.
- Significant professional experience with other enterprise databases such as MS SQL Server.
- Demonstrable experience in building CI/CD pipelines and managing infrastructure as code using Terraform.
- Familiarity with data orchestration tools like Apache Airflow or Cloud Composer.
- Experience with additional Google Cloud Platform data services including Bigtable and Memory Store (Redis).
- Proficiency in enterprise database monitoring and administrative tools such as IDERA, SCOM, Oracle OEM.
- Awareness of data privacy and compliance regulations, including HIPAA and GDPR.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement robust, scalable, and cost-efficient data architectures on Google Cloud Platform, with a focus on Cloud SQL, AlloyDB, and Bigtable.
- Lead enhancements in database performance, tuning, and optimization for PostgreSQL, addressing and resolving intricate issues arising from the legacy Oracle Exadata environment.
- Develop and maintain resilient, cloud-native data pipelines (ETL/ELT) utilizing Python and Google Cloud Platform services like Dataflow, BigQuery, and Pub/Sub.
- Create and put into action automation solutions in Python for performance oversight, troubleshooting, and infrastructure management employing IaC tools such as Terraform.
- Direct the technical execution of transitioning large, complex databases from Oracle to PostgreSQL on Google Cloud Platform, guaranteeing data integrity and effective performance.
- Act as a subject matter expert and mentor for development and data reliability teams regarding PostgreSQL and Google Cloud Platform best practices, enhancing the teams technical prowess.
