Senior Sybase Database Administrator

- Over 10 years of practical experience in Sybase database administration - Over 10 years of software development expertise across relevant platforms - Substantial hands-on experience managing Sybase ASE (Adaptive Server Enterprise) and Sybase Transact-SQL - Strong background in administering Sybase databases within Linux environments, both on-premise and on AWS cloud - Experience executing database upgrades, migrations, and version management on multiple Linux platforms in AWS - Proficient in high availability (HA) configurations, replication setup, performance tuning, and complex issue resolution - Skilled in AutoSys scheduling, role-based access control (RBAC), and database encryption - Practical experience in automating database operations using Unix shell scripting and Python - Strong background in automating backup, monitoring, and configuration processes in AWS environments - Experience in production support for large-scale, mission-critical systems - Solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) - Familiarity with one or more programming technologies such as Java/J2EE, EJB, ASP, PowerBuilder, C/C++, SQL, Oracle, Sybase, MQ Series, Visual Basic, CGI, and Windows/NT - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a keen attention to detail - Excellent communication skills, time management, and technical presentation capabilities - Ability to balance multiple priorities and projects concurrently - Comfortable providing consulting and advisory services to internal stakeholders
