Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in software development or engineering
- At least 3 years of experience in leading engineering teams
- Strong hands-on experience in backend engineering with Java, Spring Boot, and microservices
- Solid understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and Kustomize
- Proficiency in GitOps workflows and Argo CD
- Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
- Familiarity with Couchbase or similar NoSQL databases
- Proven capability in integrating backend services with web and mobile frontend applications
- Preference for candidates experienced in building scalable backend services that support guest-facing front-end features
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams effectively, plan resources, and drive long-term technical strategy
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong sense of urgency, ownership, and accountability
- Significant experience collaborating with offshore teams and managing distributed workflows
Responsibilities
- Recruit, train, mentor, and supervise one or more software engineering teams consisting of 5 to 15 engineers, both onshore and offshore
- Establish and uphold best practices throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including architecture, build, test, deployment, and maintenance
- Conduct code reviews, offer technical guidance, and uphold engineering standards within the team
- Oversee team composition, capacity planning, and resource allocation for engineering projects
- Manage team performance, provide regular feedback, and foster a high-performing engineering culture
- Coordinate onshore and offshore teams to optimize delivery speed and quality
- Collaborate with product and delivery leadership to align engineering resources with business demands and work pipelines
- Define and advance the long-term technical vision and roadmap for backend and integration architecture within the product area
- Identify opportunities for enhancing platforms, reducing technical debt, and investing in scalability
- Assess and recommend new technologies, patterns, and practices to enhance the engineering organization
- Engage actively in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog refinement to ensure alignment with roadmaps and timelines
- Serve as the technical accountability point for a product area, with visibility across all technology layers, including those beyond direct expertise
- Identify risks, dependencies, and blockers across services related to web, mobile, and content engineering; escalate as needed
- Act as a technical liaison between engineering teams and business or functional stakeholders
- Present technical concepts, status updates, project plans, and escalations confidently to senior leadership
- Collaborate with Scrum and Release Managers to guarantee timely and scheduled delivery
- Ensure effective quality processes are established to deliver high-quality applications in accordance with all regulatory standards
