Must:

- We need strong experience analyzing, maintaining, and improving large legacy codebases.
- We require proven ability to troubleshoot and debug both batch and online mainframe applications.
- We need experience building data interfaces, file transfers, and system integrations.
- We require a solid understanding of technical specifications, system flows, and data models.
- We need experience with mainframe utilities, job monitoring tools, and debugging tools.
- We require excellent documentation, communication, and collaboration skills.
- We need the ability to work independently while coordinating with cross-functional technical teams.
- Preferred experience includes support for taxation, revenue, or government systems.
- Preferred experience includes legacy system modernization or data migration initiatives.
- Preferred knowledge of mainframe security, scheduling systems, and source code management tools.
- Preferred experience in large-scale enterprise or public-sector IT environments.
- Preferred familiarity with TSO/ISPF.
- Preferred experience with AFP, PAGEDEF, FORMDEF, and OVERLAY for report and print processing.
Responsibilities
- We analyze, design, develop, test, and maintain application code for mission-critical mainframe systems within a client application team.
- We design, code, enhance, and maintain COBOL and NATURAL programs along with related JCL jobs based on functional specifications and enhancement requests.
- We perform maintenance and enhancements for both batch and online mainframe applications.
- We troubleshoot and resolve production issues, including job failures, system abends, and root-cause investigations.
- We develop and maintain data feeds, file layouts, and interface processes between legacy systems and modernized ITS components.
- We conduct code walkthroughs, logic reviews, and technical knowledge transfer for ITS development teams.
- We create and maintain technical documentation, including program specifications, data definitions, job flows, and system architecture materials.
- We support system testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing efforts.
- We participate in design reviews, technical planning sessions, and code reviews.
- We follow and promote best practices in coding standards, version control, performance tuning, and change management.
- We provide ongoing production support for mission-critical applications and help resolve issues as needed.
- We perform work in a way that aligns with safe, sedentary computer-based tasks and other essential job functions.
