Requirements
Must:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing, automation, or industrial systems
- At least 2 years of experience supporting SQL databases in a production setting
- Over 1 year of experience in Windows Server or Linux administration
- 3+ years of understanding industrial networking principles (Ethernet/IP, OPC-UA, or similar)
- More than 3 years of experience troubleshooting live production outages
- Certification in Ignition or experience with SCADA platforms
- Background in electronics manufacturing environments
- Previous SQL Server DBA experience
- Familiarity with VMware or virtualization technologies
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python
- Experience with historian or MES systems
- Knowledge of industrial cybersecurity practices
- Cisco CCNA or equivalent networking expertise
- CompTIA Server+ or Linux+ certification
- Experience in deploying scalable automation architectures
Responsibilities
- Maintain and troubleshoot manufacturing databases utilized by production equipment
- Diagnose issues within server infrastructure supporting automation systems (Windows/Linux)
- Administer and support SCADA/historian platforms (Ignition or similar)
- Troubleshoot and resolve production outages associated with data systems
- Monitor system performance, including memory, storage, and service health
- Manage backups, redundancy measures, and disaster recovery processes
- Facilitate industrial Ethernet communications between various machines
- Standardize and replicate automation infrastructure across production lines
- Document system architecture and recovery methodologies
- Collaborate effectively with controls engineers and IT/network teams
- Identify systemic risks and propose design enhancements to mitigate recurring failures
- Participate in on-call support for critical production systems
Description
We are actively seeking an Industrial Systems Engineer to take charge of and enhance the data, server, and communication infrastructure that underpins our automated manufacturing operations. This role serves as a vital link between manufacturing equipment, industrial networking, databases, and SCADA platforms. You will be the technical steward of plant systems that require uninterrupted operation in a production environment. Unlike conventional IT helpdesk roles, this position blends operational technology (OT) responsibilities with a focus on uptime, troubleshooting, and developing scalable architecture.
