Responsibilities
- I actively and consistently support all initiatives aimed at enhancing the customer experience.
- I code and conduct unit and integration testing of software to guarantee proper and efficient execution in line with business and technical requirements.
- I am involved in coding, testing, debugging, and enhancing software applications.
- I write programs according to specifications and define complex program requirements.
- I monitor and repair critical systems as necessary.
- I develop and maintain technical documentation.
- I serve as the final escalation point to tackle incidents and complications for production applications and web services as agreed upon in Service Level Agreements.
- I collaborate with internal customers and technical teams to address complex software issues.
- I provide system users and management with analyses and recommendations for system improvements.
- I identify and propose design and requirement enhancements for software.
- I implement, monitor, test, and audit new software programs to maximize software system efficiency.
- I participate in continual performance improvement sessions to explore opportunities for process and standard enhancements.
- I coordinate with technical teams to analyze and resolve software-related issues affecting operations, advising on specialized features and functions.
- I maximize software system efficacy by continually implementing, monitoring, testing, and auditing new programs.
- I follow established configuration and change control procedures.
- I collaborate with clients and technical teams, both internal and external, to pinpoint software problems and communicate solutions.
- I mentor and provide coaching to junior team members.
Description
I am offering an 18-month contract for a Senior Scala Backend Engineer, with potential for full-time employment conversion. This opportunity is based in Greenwood Village, CO. This is a chance to work in a compact, agile team that develops client-facing REST APIs for IP TV functionalities such as consumer entitlement verification, on/off-net verification, parental control verification, and settings management. The tech stack includes Scala, Scalatra, Memcached, Kafka, MongoDB, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk, and Datadog, and all code is crafted in a functional style, fully asynchronous using Scala Futures. Our team handles millions of REST calls daily, creating and enhancing microservices, often requiring a mastery of advanced development tools. I encourage self-starters who can take responsibility and make informed decisions, due to our small team structure. The job type is contract-based, with an hourly pay range of $70.00 to $75.00, and an expected workload of 40 hours per week. Benefits include 401(k), dental insurance, a flexible schedule, health insurance, and vision insurance. Seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Scala is preferred. The ability to commute to Greenwood Village, CO, is required, as this is a hybrid remote position.
