Requirements

Must:
- Knowledge of the component parts of a personal computer. - Knowledge of peripheral hardware devices such as printers, modems, and scanners, and their associated functionality. - Knowledge of PC and peripheral hardware installation and configuration processes. - Knowledge of PC software installation and configuration processes. - Knowledge of computer operating systems. - Knowledge of the use and functionality of Microsoft Office Suite software. - Ability to read and interpret IT manuals, procedures, and specifications. - Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. - Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. - Completion of the IT Help Desk Apprentice program (commonwealth title) is required.

Responsibilities

- I am responsible for independently diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving routine user support issues with hardware, software, peripheral devices, and connectivity. - I troubleshoot a wide range of routine user issues according to established guidelines. - I seek general information on non-routine and unique user issues, log tickets, and refer individuals to the appropriate IT support team or higher-level Technician for follow-up and resolution. - I configure various models of desktops, laptops, and other devices for employee workstations based on standard procedures and processes. - I install standard configurations and updates to operating systems, software tools, and printers on the network or users’ devices and update the licensing repository as needed. - I set or disable appropriate access controls and authorities based on established guidelines. - I configure user permissions, email accounts and settings, identifications, and wireless profiles based on storage parameters and guidelines. - I prioritize help desk tickets based on business need, urgency, and user. - I troubleshoot and establish secure external connections to the network or desktops using secure remote access technology. - I perform preliminary assessments of hardware, peripheral devices, software, access, and asset management needs in preparation for new users, relocations, or new asset deployments, and confirm inventory with higher-level Technician or Supervisor. - I maintain inventory according to standard guidelines for allocating and receiving IT assets and track data within asset management systems. - I administer security groups and modify user and group accounts in active directories. - I perform related work as required.

This is an entry-level technical role that involves providing routine technical assistance to users of our IT devices, systems, and services. My work revolves around receiving calls for assistance, documenting problems, and diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving routine hardware and software issues. I set up and install personal computers (PCs) and associated peripheral hardware such as printers and scanners, while also installing and configuring operating systems and applications. My work is conducted independently but is reviewed for adherence to operating procedures and overall customer satisfaction. Job Type: Contract Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour Schedule: - 8-hour shift - Day shift - Monday to Friday Work Location: In-person in Harrisburg, PA.
